I had many over the years; and quite a few from the late 1980s until the early 1990s, when they were dropped, to Deal in Game also. It was a classic case of taxation without representation.
I remember my mate and I buying one every year for years.
Strange how days apart, we used to have consecutive numbers!
 
I don't think many shooters bothered with game licences. As a cop in a rural force, I don't ever remember anyone being prosecuted for not having one.

I'm sure I remember paying something like 38.5p or something like it for a dog licence.
