Lightweight waterproof jacket

Arcteryx leaf Alpha jacket is extremely waterproof and comfortable to wear

May be a little “rustly” but many deer have been taken whilst wearing it - never found that a hibderance

Don't get me started …. I just ordered a Paramo Halcon Jacket. What do you mean by 'swishy'?
And a good morning to you too .....

I feel it moves a little too much around the body when walking, and arms make a swish when contacting the body, which may not be heard by others or animals but is distinctly offputting.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. I'll give it try anyway and see how I get along with it.

PARAMO good for walking but feels 'swishy'. The paclite goretex jackets are also v good - though I use an MTP one for stalking in warm rainy days. As above, nothing beats a gaberdine windproof smock.
The North Face GORE-TEX I’ve bought is a Paclite one. Hopefully it’ll be up to the job.

For rain, a surplus jacket with hood coated in otter wax, £30 should do it all in. If raining hard, a green rubber jacket at £30 does as well. I don’t give two Shiites for fancy goretex, doesn’t work and needs far too much maintenance for average performance

Btw, what’s wrong with getting a bit wet as well?

Keela, Paramo are natural ventile and work ok

Arcteryx despite the cost last - they come up secondhand quite often and are worth every penny

My first Alpha jacket is ten years old and still 100% waterproof

£750!!!!!!!!!!!

Quality costs and lasts

Had ten years of use out of my first Alpha and still as good as new

Beats paying couple if hundred quid every couple of years on jackets that fail

If you know where to look one can buy for half the RRP

Two jackets I like, and have given as gifts, are the light breathable jackets by Orvis and LL Bean. They change every few years, so what I am wearing now has a replacement.

The heavier duty LL Bean Trail Model Rain Jacket
