Load Data for Sako Blade pro 162gr .300 Win Mag

Hi All,

I'm new to reloading and am trying to work out the high and low powder weight for the Sako Blade pro 162gr. It's for a 300 win mag.

I have found the loading data on the sako website. But, the range from min and max powder seems to be rather large about 20gr difference.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The load data is there for you to see.
Seen as you probably want a magnum to run at decent speed I would start at a midrange load and work up in smallish load steps. A chronograph is a useful tool for reloading.
If you can I would chronograph some factory 162 blade in your rifle then you have some idea of max pressure/velocity in YOUR rifle.
Chronographs can be rented cheaply if you don't have access to one.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks mate,
I had similar thoughts. Hadn't thought about using a chronograph though or using it on factory rounds either.

I long ago gave up trying to reinvent the wheel & simply copied the factory load as best I could, albeit I was often able to tweak it a bit too by adjusting the seating depth to suit my rifle & making slight adjustments to powder weight to compensate for case volumes etc.

A little update after two visits to the range.

Started out with a loads between 57 and 69.5 working up in 0.5 increments. The best grouping was 66.
Next visit i had reloaded between 65.6 and 66.4 in 0.1 increments.
There wasn't much difference between the 65.9, 66 and 66.1 in terms of grouping size.
All in all I will be loading at 66 grains and then get my hands on a chronograph...
