Looking about a accurate .22lr "tac driver"

IMO you need several 5 shot groups at a rangefinder confirmed 100 yards- at which point I will get very excited. IME you're doing well if you can get below 3" at this range.

Easy….my son was shooting around 1 1/2” groups today at the range, and that was not in ideal conditions. (Wind gusts)

You just need to find the ammunition your rifle will shoot.

I love to shoot 100y with a .22lr and use an Anschutz 1710. It is MUCH more challenging than shooting 50y and very addictive, I typically average around the inch.

However, when all the planets align, it can get better. Here’s my best to date.

Ammo is the key, and different batches of ammo does make a difference.

Yes you can. Might have to order but the 1710 is current production. It’s their long standing model 54 action. Or their newer model is the 1761 series. The advantage to the 1761 is that you can easily swap barrels/calibers and they’re a little more affordable. But the 1761 is relatively new so it doesn’t have the long pedigree of the 54 action. But neither are inexpensive for sure. If however you want a lifetime rimfire, Anschutz is certainly that. Also check out the Steyr Zephyr 2. Another one that gets excellent reviews from an accuracy standpoint and is a handsome piece.

Brilliant. But IME groups can really open up on 22LR at 100 yards. Disproportionately so. Any idea of group size for 100 yards ?

Sorry, never took it out that far, was testing for 50m competitions.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that, for .22 at least, double the distance triple the group size, never tested it.

That’s why serious competition shooters batch test, available at the Eley factory in Birmingham, and if anything fits they buy thousands of them.

What's the gun and the ammo please?

I love the 22LR- it's absolutely brilliant for decoying crows. But looping it out to 100 yards is fun but it's not accurate enough IME. It's great if you can- they can't hear it and they don't fly off as much.

I've taken a massive interest in stretching the legs of my .22lr in recent months. The picture attached is a 200yard toms target fox head. Cci subs out of my savage mk ii. Fantastic rifle.
My goal next year is to get out to 400 odd yards.

I love the 22LR calibre but I have never found them half as accurate as most people say. At least not with subsonics. Most are good out to 50 yards but they open up part 75 and at 100 they aren't accurate enough for hunting use. I have tried a few better ammo packs too- SK rifle match along with a few others.

Would anyone mind showing subsonic groups of 22LR at 100 yards ? Is MOA or 1.5MOA routinely possible ?

That’s a classic sign of poor quality ammo.
Shell out a few quid for some proper target grade fodder and try again.

I was looking for a firing pin spring earlier this year Anschutz basically washed their hands of my request, they don’t support the model anymore

.22’s are really difficult to test at 100M because of the wind. A 5mph gust will take you 4” out of the group.
On the bright side, with decent magnification and the light behind you you can generally watch them curl away and call it.

Its an Anschutz 1710 DHB, using Lapua Centre X. The picture doesn’t show the scope I am currently using which is a Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical Elite.

I bought a Ruger Precision in .22LR and absolutely love it to bits. accurate as hell out to 150m so far, going to be taking it out to 300 soon.

You were luck, mine had a 17 stage bl*88y auful trigger and shaved lead of ever round loaded.
Sorted with a lovely (not cheap) Timney trigger and a stronger spring for Mag retention. After that it was OK, no better. Moved it on.
I’d never promote them , I thought the fit and finish was the worst I’ve ever seen on a rifle. The bolt edges were sharp enough to cut your fingers. Extractor fell out on removal of the lower, not a friction fit on the pins, just rattled around loose, spoke to the rep in the RFD I bought it from, he just walked out and drove off without speaking

I have a Kriss defiance 22 that I tried at a measured 200yds with standard Geco 22lr semi- auto rounds. This was my first group off the bonnet of the car, it was low but a good group.
