Looking about a accurate .22lr "tac driver"

Me too. I was trying out my new tripod with my tikka t1x recently at my fox head gong at 200 yards . Once I got dialled in on it I managed to get 29 hits out of 30 with cci standard velocity. I was well pleased .
My mate just bought a new savage mk11 last week. We just got it zerod with cci subs and it shot quite well considering how windy it was.
Did you try any other ammo in yours ?

Most certainly did, tried all the subsonic hollow points and the cci came out on top. It used to shoot exceptionally well with 40gr eley subs, but since they swapped to the 38gr a few years back it fell out of love with them. Thumb nail 5 shot groups at 50 yards all day long.
When target shooting it shoots sk rifle match like a dream. It's with them I hope to take it out to 400 yards.
One of my highlights of 2023 was a 180 yard rabbit with cci subs. Took a couple of shots to get on target but was really please with it. I've since built a stronger profile on strelok... checking my speeds at various different temperatures. Makes a massive difference.
Oh and treated myself to a tier one atac bipod...absolutely fantastic.

I use an Anshutz 54 for practice at 25yds at the rifle club.
So far I've tried 11 different makes of Ammo and other than a slight adjustment to centre of target it shoots ragged holes.
1/4 moa or less.

So much depends on quality ammo. I kinda went with a midrange budget... between £7 and £9 a box of 50. Might actually try some of the expensive stuff just to see how it compares... I should imagine it doesn't really come into its own until you start pushing the range out.

This is not a reflection on the quality of the rifles used , its just the dogshite ammo you put up with .

You’ll pay three times the price for a FaC air that will compete though, and you’ll have to recharge it every so many shots….a 22LR will do this all day until you run out of ammo and the retained energy on must is dog **** by 100 yards.

Did you contact Anschutz directly or if not who were you working with? That model is very much still in production so they’re still making all of the parts. Now the model 64 has indeed been discontinued so parts for that may become more difficult to get.

I was in direct contact with Anschutz, and not impressed with the response. I got a local guy to turn a few springs.

The last magazine fed Anschutz I bought new would not feed from the mag or eject reliably. I had to fettle both quite a lot to get it to passable. Sold it.
Can't fault my Tikka T1x for the price, excellent little rifle, reliable magazines that are easier to insert/remove. Lots of stocks/chassis available.
For longer range shooting I have a Vudoo action .22 (remington 700 footprint), groups tightened up notably with Lapua centre-x ammunition. That was very spendy, though.
At 100y even my Enfield .22 trainer puts in reasonable groups off my elbows/sling with SK rifle match.
You can't shoot longer range .22 with cheap ammunition. SK rifle match is reasonable, if the rifle likes it then Lapua centre-x is much better. Other rifles like R50, etc. You need to test a range to see what your rifle prefers, preferably without wind.
