About 18 months to 2 years ago a chap I met on here was looking for a good home for his cocker spaniel. His reasons were fair and sound and I was lucky enough to welcome this dog into my/our lives. She is now 9 years old and a perfect companion.
My partner had never had dogs up to that point but now they’re inseparable. I don’t know what she would do without her. Recently Fern ( our cocker) was unwell, luckily it was just a phantom pregnancy but it struck a chord.
I live very rurally in a deer park with almost unlimited outside space. I also work on a large estate meaning that sometimes I can have the dog accompany me. If not my partner works from home. I think now is the time to look to take on a friend for Fern and well all of us really.
I am still in regular contact with her previous owner who is now a friend and send updated pictures etc of her out paddle boarding, swimming camping and so on.
The whole experience has been a positive one, it’s not just a case of me wanting something for nothing. I could take the standard route and just buy a puppy but this is my preferred option.
I have always liked the labs nature but I would consider another cocker, sprocker, springer or even a terrier. Let me know what you have
It may be you are working a dog that lacks drive or has developed a fault or getting on a little ? Maybe your just overdogged or you recently had a litter and are struggling to find homes good enough.
I can put you in touch with the gentleman I have mentioned to give you feedback regarding myself, I’m happy for you to visit my home and take a look around. Please feel free to dm me or get in touch via Wattsapp ( my phone signal is awful but as I said I’m rural) my number is 07355234320.

Thanks for your consideration

Joe, what's your location?

I know of a lovely red lab from working lines (same as my own dog, cousins few times removed), 7 years old, owner recently passed away so breeder has taken him back.
Lived as a pet in rural Lancashire from what i know.

Hi Brad, I’m in Bedale North Yorkshire mate. Not a million miles from Lancashire but I’d have to get my jabs done first 😂 . Feel free to pass my details on or whatever you need
Thanks

Joe

I'll pass your details on mate.

After losing our old lab Skye we had a dogless break last year from Feb to October. Worst period of our lives! So we too decided on a rehome and that’s how Rua came into our lives. Yes as a two year old American Lab coming from a three child family she does have a few “issues” but in the 6 months she has had us she has utterly besmitten us both.
If you get the chance to rehome do go for it guys…

On our 4th rescue Vizsla now amongst the 8 dogs we have been blessed to share our lives with - all of the rescues have been outstanding and bought warmth and companionship into our family. Some good dogs out there looking for the right home and owners sadly 🫤

Hi Brad,

I’ve heard nothing so far. My reception at home is awful though so may have missed it. Always worth trying me on wattsapp as my broadband is reliable.

Cheers
She usually has 100 things on the go at once what with training her dogs and day job, i'll drop her a message tomorrow for you.

I think this site might work out fine Quixote. You’re dealing with the person who knows more and cares about the dog I think. Nothing wrong with the rescue places but I’d prefer to deal direct if you get my meaning.

Absolutely. I was just suggesting it as another potential avenue 👍
