Loose mod

Have a a Schultz Larsen with factory threads - mod is so lose going on it’s not even funny. Good quality mod too! Issue is the factory threads are so underside, seemingly to ensure all mods fit

Did look at getting re threaded, but seemingly SL barrels have a tightening at the end of the muzzle/bore diameter, so shortening could mess with the performance and accuracy, with no guarantees it will work out. So I live with the ‘rattle can’, but it has to be damn firm up against the shoulder at all times.

I use PTFE tape on the thread & it stays put!

Get the barrel threaded correctly by someone who knows what they are doing. A friend of mine threads my rifles when necessary. He insists on having the moderator to hand to measure the pitch of the threads so that he can match this when threading the barrels.
A Hausken of mine died a death as they all do. Eventually the outer sleeve developed a pinprick hole. Time to retire it before I was treated to a very loud bang.
I replaced it with a Roedale moderator as an interim measure. It was a sloppy fit and would slacken off after 4-5 shots.

as above, i always get my mod fitted to my rifle never comes loose. bs

Target shooting at Altcar ranges yesterday. Further along the firing line, a moderator 'violently' detached from the barrel of a shooter's rifle on pulling the trigger. Unsure of all the circumstances, but not a good situation. No one injured thankfully.
