Lyman Gen 6 throws powder all over the damn place

With certain powders, my Lyman dispenser chucks kernels all over the place, they seem to bounce out of the pan for some reason.

Any ideas how I fix this so I'm not constantly sweeping powder off the bench? Different pan? Some kind of spout modification so they don't fall as far?

Are you using the black insert in the tube to temper the flow?

Not a gen 6 but I have a lyman dps 3 model that done the same. I also had an older dps 2 model and noticed the scale pan on it was deeper so I used that pan and I had no more bother.

Cut down a drinking tube straw and wedge up the end should slow it down a bit

Yep... An extra bit of tube might be the answer

A bendy straw could be made to work. You're just trying to slow down the velocity of the kernels as they come out of the spout, so bending the straw helps slow down the kernels....

I cut a 7mm-08 cartriage in 1/2, slipped it over the dispensor with a piece of tape to keep it from spinning, no more powder spraying all over

I had the same problem, I cut a 7mm-08 ctg in 1/2, slipped it over the dispenser, no more flying powder

I’ve never liked auto powder throwers, I’ve had 3 over the years and they have never been marvellous!

I get better results from a little lyman digital and a powder thrower.

When my current powder dispenser packs in I don't think I'll buy another.
I will probably get a good quality thrower and scale also.

Love my RCBS - speeds up the process considerably. I’ll never be going back to the old way - far too slow.

Back to the OP, my secondhand RCBS. Ame with a small 3D printers add-on tube slipped in the end of the dispensing tube. Never had @ny issues with wayward powder @cross the many types dispensed. Have a on eBay or if you print, thingyverse.

I am still waiting for someone in the UK to make and sell the open source powder trickler….. the plans for 3 D printing and how to make the electronics are included on a site called GitHub …..our American cousins rate them very highly and two shooters in America have set up their own websites producing the Printed Precision trickler and the MEEHL trickler.

These are all dispensing powder to within one kernel.
I hope someone with the ability to create one of these in the UK gets started soon!
All of the other powder delivery systems seem to have problems with overcharges powder spills and difficulty in emptying the powder hopper or are incredibly expensive with long waiting lists.

II've already done over a thousand on my Gen 6 which is less than a year old, and I can't complain one bit about it other than the small annoyance in my original thread.

I've stopped using that powder now anyway
