Magtec primers. Are CCI worth twice the price?

I nearly fell over at the shooting show found some fed small rifle primers thought I’ll have them until he said the price 250 a thou I said put em back 😂
I saw that too, then I found another stand selling them at £150 ish. Slightly more pallatable.

Several of my rifles don’t seem to like the magtech, failures to fire on more than one occasion from 3/4 rifles. Just about got through my first one 1000, with probably 7/8 failures. Have had others say they are hard. May be a batch issue.

Doesn’t mean I’ll stop using them but I am only using them for target loads, not for hunting.

The price of primers in the US is falling. They are now available for around $50/1000 for some brands, according to contributors on the Reloading Podcast.
In the past the UK has about 6-8 months behind.
I want to think that the price will eventually drop to under £100/k for CCI given they're down to $55/k, but I'd bet we have a single importer and they'll just cackle and make money hand over fist on them.

The cost of the cci br primers is eye watering.
I have used some magtec and Federal recently without any issues.
(Have had problems with some hard primers in cbc ammunition)

So. As you have probably worked out, I am just getting into reloading.
I was lucky and managed to pick up 300 CCI 400 SRP at £10/100.
This has now jumped to £16.75/100.

Reviews of Magtec on here are varied, but I can pick them up locally at £8 /100 or £7.50 if I order through the club from Henry Cranks.

Are CCI really worth double?

Thanks, TD66
Reviews arre definitely mixed, just like the groups on paper!
Cheap for a reason & CCI not worth the extra money.
RWS are fantastic & well priced. Hopefully the Vit primers will make there way over sometime.

I used both with two different powders to develop a load. Magvtech were shocking with Vit & very average with RS. RWS grouped well with Vit & exceptional with RS 🎯
