MANKIND'S SUICIDE

Just listened to an audio book A LIFE ON OUR PLANET by DAVID ATTENBOROUGH,
It makes grim listening or reading on how we are destroying our planet, he states that slowly but surely we are coming to the point of no return if we haven't already reached it.
So people like me and you are all doing our bit like driving our 4x4s [carbon monoxide] or eating beef [methane from cows] or many of the other things that cause greenhouse gas.
Some may say that my little bit won't matter, but it will if we all said that.
SO AGAIN WHAT CAN WE DO ?, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ?. WILL WE DO WHATS NEEDED ?
yours disturbingly

I used to love watching his programmes, now it’s all a bit too depressing.

I recycle and do my bit wherever I can.... however the only way to realistically make a difference is to drastically reduce the human population ( something nature has been trying to do for a long time) and that doesn’t seem to be happening no matter what people say about COVID.
The earth was here long before us and will be here long after us.

Looks like the world population is on the decline

Didn’t read it all I have to admit, but looks like the percentage of growth is declining, not the population itself declining. Either way, it’s not going to be enough.

we’re all doomed I tell ya

There's been volcano activity forest fires and fossil fuel being burned for millennium dinosaurs running a muck dropping turds every where gasses coming from all over and the closest you got to recycling was Fred Flintstones bone knife and fork! but all jokes aside we all do our bit in some way or another except for the big industries that pretend to :stir:

It's all about how many of us humans are on the planet. We all contribute, to a greater or lesser degree to the general malaise. And you are quite right that we can all reduce our carbon footprint. But the 66 million in the UK, if we all did do that, would be a very small percentage of world population. What's more, there's countries much bigger than ours that cannot, or have no intention of reducing their collective footprint. So I really do see the problem. What I don't see is a way out.

Vastly reducing our population levels will be the eventual answer. But there again, there's countries, if not continents that wouldn't do that. Perhaps the planet's eco-system will be so damaged that the amount of humans will naturally diminish and so hopefully give the planet time to regenerate.

One thing for sure, David Attenborough will not be around to see it and I suspect that is also true of most of the folk on here. We can only reduce our personal footprints so much though. If the population keeps rising, it'll cancel any benefits selling the 4X4 would bring.

Anyway, vegetating at home and all those aeroplanes parked up will have helped recently. We just need to stop that Mr Attenborough flying all over creation now!

im just putting another log on the fire and gonna do some crumpets, dont you think that all the atomic bombs that were tested in the 60,s and 70,s had anything to do with global warming, china and russia dont give a toss about pollution same goes for africa, and all the other tin pot countrys using fossil fuels, and they want me to stop using a wood burner to keep warm and to cook, on,mine isnt a nice trendy ornament in the house, i couldnt give a toss, mmm now where,s my crumpets. bs.

We have become too successful at managing our own health and unwitting natures way of keeping population in check.

The only way out is to cull 90% of the population. I suspect nature will find a way eventually.

Does anyone question the **** China is pumping out, I’d have thought what we’re doing is a drop in the ocean compared to the pollutants they and some other countries are throwing into the atmosphere.
Yeah, but much of what they're pumping out is a result of us demanding what they make - cheaper and dirtier. Can't entirely blame them, the rotten, maggot-sucking, civet-felching, bat-crunching commie scumbags.
