Mannlicher GK 1959

I recently viewed a 1925 Takedown in 30/06 cased, with all the original equipment, slings, cleaning gear and a two piece wooden Parker Hale cleaning rod. The rifle was distributed by C.B.Vaughan, Strand London, WC2. regards, Mike.

There's one similar (1938 proof model - 7.62x63Cal.) showing just now by Paradox on Nitro Mike.

I too have been looking at these Styer mannlicher rifles, with great envy I might add, however it’s the full stock versions that I prefer do any of you have experience with them in 270 say. I normally hunt with a big old Remington in 308 so I’d prefer something a little lighter and a lot more elegant. These older versions are my preferred option also as their is certainly a warmer feel to them but I have heard concerns about their accuracy?

A good friend has a pair, one in 243 and one in 270. They are probably mid 1960's. Both shoot well - and certainly shoot well enough for deer stalking. I last saw the 270 being shot on the range. Cold barrel, first couple of shots on the money. Struggling a bit once barrel warms up.

But we are talking a lightweight hunting rifle, not a varmint of target rifle.

If anyone wants any 6.5 x54 ms I know there is 20 rws factory rounds @ Gardner’s guns

Heym -
I have owned a MS Stutzen in .30-06, 6.5x54, and now own a Model M Lux Stutzen in .270. The old ones shot very well, and the .270 does, as well. It gets surprising velocity from all loads. With just the iron sights, it is handy and light enough, but not too light. It has Warne bases, so if I choose, it can wear a lightweight scope when I am hunting mountainous woods where I may come across a 300 yard grassy meadow. It shoots all the .270 handloads for my other rifles, but does very well with the cheap PPU and Hornady factory ammunition.
