does anyone have any idea of knowing if a muntjac is a medal or not ive just shot a munti but not quite sure if he will make it to medal or not, hes 10.4cm on one side and 10.0cm on the other with about 6cm of girth in the middle of the antlers but next to no brow tines any ideas if this will make it chaps if I can work out how to get the pics off my phone I will post them.

Personally i'd say it wasn't mate but who cares I've mounted plenty that wouldn't make a measure just because the stalk was fantastic .
Go to cic web site
Norma
They don't charge if it dont make a medal i think pm chriseo

Who knows, could make one but the only way to find out is to get it measured, a lot of points can come from the circumference of the coronets, he looks heavy in terms of the mass of the antlers but there’s only one way to find out. At least with munties you can have a pretty good stab at it at home to get an idea, if I get a chance I’ll ping up a photo of the score sheet showing what measurements are needed....

I'm starting to wonder I must admidt the photos dont quite do it justice of how thick the beams are (ive shot roe with thinner beams!) but I think the lack of brow tines and the length of the antlers plus the slight diffence in them may keep it out of the medals but its still by far the biggest muntjac I've ever shot

Hi lampy,

You need to measure the coronet circumference and the max. span between the antlers - perpendicular to the axis of the skull- at the widest point.
No brow tines will lose a bit, and it is on the low side of scoring for a bronze, which is +56 points.

Get it on a shield and enjoy it buddy, for it is the memories of the hunt that are important.

Hope that helps.

had him measured up last night and he scored 59.1 cic giving him a silver im well chuffed as ive been after a medal muntie for years
