MedCert

They received my records at the end of January from my Dr’s then their Dr processed them over February for them to only flag up the other week after chasing them that the records only go back to 97’ ( I moved down here from Scotland in 96’ ) now chasing them to find out what the Met is saying whether they need them all the way back etc as that is what they said they were going to do . I’ve found the whole process with them similar to dealing with the shat solicitors we had when selling and buying our house, at this moment in time I’m less than impressed tbh .

I completed all my bit of the paperwork for renewal on the 5th January including paying for MedCert to do the medical bit.Since then I have had my visit from the FEO 2 weeks ago,I phoned MedCert and explained that the FEO was waiting for their response and the reply I got was the paperwork will be processed as soon as it comes back from their doctors,my renewal date is 3 weeks away so mutch for a quick efficient service

The weekend of the shooting show up in Birmingham I phoned on the Thursday if I recollect and got a voice message saying they were shut as they were attending the show 🤷‍♂️ . I also spoke to a member of staff who said they were down on staff due to illness which is fair enough but why no email or call to raise the issue about my records only going back so far ? Why did their Dr not flag this earlier as that is what they are processing all the time so must have an understanding of what is required and the parameters as such. It was only when I called yet again did all come out in the wash so to speak .
I’m not going to start going all negative about them as I’m sure they are dealing with all the fall out from the whole debacle that is the current FAC application and renewal process but a bit more communication and updates would be appreciated.

I might add to be fair that my Dr took longer than the legal time frame to respond/send my records to them which put the stick in the spokes from the get go, in summary I paid for the service on the 06/12/21 and here I am on the 15/03/22 wining about it 🙄.

I suspect many delays are by doctors who decline to do it, only to find that they have to do it anyway really except for Medcert rather than you and not get paid. Which, in one way is poetic justice, but in another, causes annoying delays.

Last last year it took them 3 months to return the completed GP form, despite my GP providing them my records in a timely fashion.

Trying to get any information out of them was next to impossible; it was always ‘It’ll be with you in the next 5 days’.

I got the impression that they had a significant backlog, and that they appeared to be relying on a single GP to complete the assessments.

I still haven’t had anything from them , my application was back in August .
i requested my money back but haven’t received that

I’m having a mare between them and my fuxing GP who has dragged their heels and it now transpires they only sent some of my records really starting to grind my gears…

At the risk of being subject to a 15-year custodial sentence for daring to voice dissent, am I to remain the only SD member of the belief that this whole medical records check requirement has been poorly thought out and is so clearly in need of early overhaul at all levels?

If any process is to succeed it surely needs to demonstrate consistency, something sadly lacking as evidenced in any number of similar threads.

How did the police deal with your renewal with no medical report
I applied too medicert for a report thinking it would be quicker than my GP , in the end I asked my doctor for the report which took around ten days to Complete at a cost of £45.00

your looking at it logically wanting a process that is fit for purpose and works, a chief Constable just wants to cover their backside to the uneducated general public.

to work, it needs the GP contracts changed so the applicants registered GP must engage in the process.

I'm 4 weeks into the "process" with Medcert. They claim to have sent the request to my GP by recorded delivery "sometime last week", my GP surgery have received nothing. They claimed that I hadn't paid my £60 fee, when I emailed the proof of payment on 25th Feb, they've now apologised for a "clerical error"
When you call if they have no one to take the call (due to staff illness), you're connected to the answer service which tells you that the mailbox is full and you cannot leave a message. I'm beginning to smell a rat!!:(

I found them frustrating to deal with when going for my grant a year ago. Unless i chased them up, nothing would get done.

I will try shootcert or dr’s directly come renewal (but that’s a long way off)

Interesting to read other members replies, can’t help but to start thinking that they are less than adequate, there is always two sides to a story, I’m told by them that it’s down to my GP surgery not responding etc etc, but after reading some of the responses in this thread, I think I will be going today/tomorrow to my GP to ask for my complete medical records which I’ve now researched that they are duty bound to give you and you do not have to give a reason. This should be free of charge and there is a patients rights association where “ if “ you have an issue with your GP they tell you how and who to lodge a complaint with officially .
I’m going to get my records via my surgery and once this is set in motion I will be asking them when exactly they were first contacted by MedCert for a record request . As I mentioned I paid on the 06/12/21 and apparently they didn’t receive anything until the 27/01/22 and the legal deadline for my surgery to respond was the 14/01/22 according to MedCert. When I asked them to get on this they the said agh yeh it’s a long drawn out procedure if we go down this route and could take up to six months if we initiate action etc etc as it stands it’s now four months .
Hopefully I’ll get to the bottom of this in the coming days and if I do find that MedCert have been less than honest and/or lacking in their service I will be letting BASC know exactly what is going on and that they need to be asking questions about promoting this particular company and the service ( or lack of ) that they provide . Will update when I have something relevant to add, good luck to all others who are having to wade through this absolute quagmire of a system .
