I was conditioning my Meindls the other day, something I do regularly, when it struck me that these boots have been a part of my life for a long time. I have three pairs. The oldest, a pair of Island Pros Gore-Tex are 23 years old. They've taken me around Mont Blanc, over the Alps, through the Pyrenees and down to the corner shop and are still at it. The second pair are Borneo MFS leather-lined. Had them for about 20 years and these are used as an everyday boot. They've seen a lot of work and have been resoled once. My third pair are Dovre Extremes. Purchased in Europe in 2014. I did make a mistake with these. After a good clean and conditioning I left them on the balcony for a number of days in a position where the relentless Aussie sun was shining on the rubber rand at the heel. This developed a few cracks. Nowhere to get this fixed here in the Antipodes so I filled the cracks with ShoeGoo.
Don't know anything about current Meindl production quality but the boots I have are working great, and hopefully will see me out.
Cheers
