Mincer

Evening folks,

With the amount of deer I am shooting slowly increasing I find myself with more and more bits of meat after butchering that would be ideal to mince up for burgers / lasagne etc so my question to the SD world is:

Are there any recommendations for a reasonable mincer that won't break the bank??

Or if anyone is getting rid of one for the right price.

I don't shoot a huge amount of deer yet so wouldn't be looking for anything on an industrial level just yet.

Thanks in advance

I struggled with the hand mincer! Argos sell a Kenwood food processor which has an electric mincer attachment so i treated the wife to a new food processor and i got an electric mincer at same time. It works well!

Mincer advice

My advice would be to avoid the hand mincers.
Do a bit of research on the electric ones and buy the best you can afford.
(Maybe even chip in with stalking companions and share its use ?)
I know of several people who have wasted money on cheap mincers, only to go on and buy better models.
If you get 20 years out of a decent mincer you will find that it probably only cost you £20 a year.(Under 6 pence a day).

Have a look at mincer advice from this forum from June 15:106265-Recommend-me-an-electric-mincer

(just search on mincer)

Cheers mate, looks like an ideal bit of kit. Don't think I shoot quite enough to justify to the long haired general that I need that just yet but won't be long hopefully so might just have to invest now lol

Here's another angle for you to justify it .....
Doesn't just have to be venison or game you get ...... Explain that your showing an interest in eating better & so much bought stuff now full of crap
So what bout buying your ordinary beef mince in & Making your own burgers
You know what's gone into it
You can play with flavours & experiment
If young kids get them involved get hands in get messy .... Teaches them

& if see a good deal on diced pork lamb beef or whatever can stock up whack it thru mincer & always better eating your own creations

Mince such a versatile thing doesn't have to burgers
Meatballs
Lasagne
Bolognaise
Mince & tatties etc etc etc

Get one you won't regret it

I,was thinking same
More importantly is that monkey spanker telling us where he got his user name from ? 😂😂😂😂

I tried the hand mincer and the electric hand blender (wifes helpful idea).

Electric hand blender didn't work and made a hellish whining noise. Hand mincer similar - only it was me making the hellish whining noise.

Never, ever again.

Buy the best electric mincer you can afford.

Grindr might be one route to raising the cash :norty:

Well, I'll buck the trend and say that I use a hand mincer, one of these: http://www.lakeland.co.uk/18530/Manual-Meat-Mincer-&-Sausage-Maker-Machine
It is almost idiot proof, but not quite - I have had the blade on back to front once and, no surprise, it didn't work very well. Once it is put together properly it's not at all bad, especially for the price. Yes, it takes more time and effort to mince the meat, but it doesn't need much storage space and since I'm only mincing a few deer per year then it's no big deal.
Sauer is right, get the kids involved if you have them. I had my girls making bunny burgers from a very young age, turning the handle on the mincer and adding the ingredients. They understood that bunnies are fluffy, cute - and taste good too. It did make for a couple of slightly awkward conversations at nursery around Easter time, though...

I use one of these, very capable with whatever you decide to feed it with. Sausage attachment is fine also.

The Andrew James model has lasted me for years and the price does not break the bank. I have probably put about 6 to 700lb of meat through it.

I'll also vouch for the Andrew James mincer. Had mine three years or so and it hasn't put a foot wrong :thumb:
