Minox scopes

On my 22 rim fire I have a Minox 3-10 by 50 scope. I was well pleased with it, so bought a Minox ZA 5i in 5-25 by 56 (which has target turrets) for longer range work on my bigger rifle. This scope, however, is a big disappointment. The sight picture goes out of focus when used over 16 mag, and this makes the target vague and indistinct. There seems to be dust on the inner surface of the objective lens. Has anyone else had such issues ? What is the warranty on these scopes ?

Minox are great scopes.

Simply, you might have to adjust your focus as all eyes are different. That’s why modern scopes tend to have quick focus rings. The parallax adjustment adjusts the position of the reticle in relation to the target where focus is optical clarity. At longer ranges both may have to be utilised to give the sight image you need.

Minox offer a lifetime guarantee, but I believe this is only to the original owner and if registered when bought.

Minox may be great scopes, but this one is not. Most of the gun club have had a look and a play, but its not right. Unfortunately I am not the original owner.

had a pair of Minox 8x42 hd binos got to say they never ever had a issue with them!were good for the money.

I recently purchased a Minox ZA5 HD 2-10x40
off a SD member.

Before buying it I spent hours and hours reading about them.

It would seem, from reading some US forums from years ago that the Mk1 versions of my scope were always having problems, warranty seemed to still be honoured quite a while afterwards.

The model I saw advertised was a Mk2 and people said the issues were resolved, so I got it and it looks great.

Check if your model is the Mk1 as it doesnt have HD in the name. There were reports of dust, slipping crosshairs and the zoom ring being poor on the Mk1.

They don’t offer lifetime guarantee. It’s 2 years which I have just found out the hard way after buying a secondhand ZP5. The parallax knob has play and i am footing the bill 🤦‍♂️

The ZP line are a different quantity to the rest of the minox scopes so I wasn’t expecting any issues. Caveat emptor.

simgre, Wish it had. I do not want to sell it on E-Bay, and pass my trouble onto someone else. I will look into having it repaired, if its economic to do so.

Is it any wonder that in the 500 a £1500 range, Vortex are becoming very popular. Capability, features and aftercare…
