mismate shot

Just too prefix not my dogs my parents, but I know there's some knowledgeable people on here.

Went on holiday on the 21st, around the 25th we got reports of our youngest dog behaving strangely she's an pretty anxious dog without my mom and given the heatwave, we assumed the odd behaviour (standing around, aggressive, stumbling, semi-laboured breathing) could be indictive of stress and anxiety with my mom being gone combined with the heat however a week after returning, given that she had in theory been around an intact male we took her too the vets too be looked at, The vet would only give her an ultrasound no X-rays the ultrasound showed two different sized masses either pups or potential tumours too be on the safe side a mismate shot was issued the vet then refused too do anything until the correct time-frame for the drug had successfully passed, the dog went downhill after the jag but she wouldn't do anything.

Today finally after about two weeks she came too see her in home because It had gotten that bad, another ultrasound done with the kidneys looking rather stressed, and with the assumption Its a phantom pregnancy so drugs ordered for Monday morning and a course of antibiotics too be on the safe side.

She left and about an hour later the dog seized and appears too be in a coma If she wont pass naturally within the next few hours. (as sad as that is too say) were going too have too get the vet out again too be PTS via injection.

I'm not a vet but I'm just curious why an X-ray wasn't even a thing considered or offered? (I supose she's the only one that can answer that) but It feels so weird on my end that she gave a mismate shot without confirming when she herself said it could of been a tumour, an x-ray at the gestation assumed should of shown rather clearly If it was pups and If it was we would of just went the spay-abort direction, instead It seems like the poor dog Is the rare few that have taken a reaction too the shot and will likely expire because of it.

Its bloody sad man I dont think the vet has done her any good and brushed us off so much, I know the skeletons need too be developed too show up but the fact It wasn't even done for the sake of it is wild too me especially since a tumour or even an impaction would of likely showed up and even the vet said it was abnormal.

Sorry to hear of your predicament, could the Xray not' been taken if there was a pregnancy?

BC.
Shouldn't of been an issue x-rays are very common in later term pregnancy (what the time she was showing signs, she likely would of been) too identify how many puppies are inside or in the sake of tumours potentially a visible mass.
