Mod coming loose - Ruger 10/22 & Atec Wave

My Ruger Precision Rimfire is factory cut to 1/2-28 (UNEF) and I also use an Atec Wave with no modifications/o-rings/tape and have never had a problem. But like you say, 1/2-20 (UNF) is so common you'd have thought problems would be widely reported.

I'm leaning toward the guys who say to use PTFE plumbers thread tape. Start with as little as possible, a single wrap if you can, and use PTFE tape for water works, the gas pipe stuff tends to be quite a lot thicker and squishier - my mentality is to get away with as little as possible to avoid changing your alignment and possible baffle strikes

If I had to wrap plumbers tape around my threads to get the suppressor to the correct fit, one or the other would be on it's way back to be recut.
For guys who are so fastidious about most things shooting, this nonchalant attitude towards suppressor fit shocks me. ~Muir

The fit is fine Muir.
Very often nowadays it is standard practice to seal threads with a compound. Foe all sorts of reasons.
Gas and liquid proof, electro isolation and vibration.
Plumbers tape is more favourable over a setting compound to ease removal.
100% agree though, something is a miss, maybe not alignment but certainly thread percentage.
A recut would be the answer and certainly the only option for a more intense round. It's only a 22 though 🤷‍♂️

Interesting.
If you wrapped plumber's tape on any of my suppressor cut guns I doubt you'd be able to get the suppressor on. ~Muir

all my rifles mods have been fitted by competant gunsmiths, and ive never had a problem with any of them, washers locktite ptfe i thought plumbers used those? bs
