Moderator Changes on FAC

Does anyone know what is happening with the changes to Moderators on FAC?
I Heard through the grapevine that they may be taken off at the end of July?
Can anyone confirm or update me please.

I read somewhere but can't remember where that the intended changes have been put back a bit due to the timing of the general election. I'm not sure how true this is or if the delay is due to other reasons.

My bet is it will go on back burner.

They could always spin it as taking X number of firearms out of circulation. If they are not firearms anymore then you don’t have to count them.

As far as when, well until the legal side is sorted ie removing or re writing the flash hider bit of legislation then you’re going to have to wait.
It could well be in the queue of sensible ideas that never happen category of improving firearms licensing. We’ll have to wait and see.

That’s a neat trick, Parliament has been dissolved pending the election. So no laws are being passed until that is finished. Then it will depend on who gets in and their priorities. I for one will not hold my breath.

Probably right, because if Starmer gets in he is going get rid of personal firearms ownership anyway, so pointless making any changes before then.

Never ceases to amaze me how politicians feel its ok to put a country on pause while they squabble about like kids over crayons! The world doesn't stop turning because of your crayons needing tidying up.

Laws still need to be passed etc etc and some very good points above of how to pitch it to the general public..."we've removed X firearms from circulation" they don't have to divulge they were legally held firearms that law abiding FAC holders jumped through hoops for whilst Joe Blogs in Brixton is still brandishing his Glock19

I didn't say it was (about to be) passed I said it was progress, and progress can stall!

Also the Bliar creature set up new GP contracts removing the out of hours obligations and throwing a pile of money at them. Let us not forget that GP’s have never been part of the NHS, they are monopoly private contractors to it.

If you were already paying c50% income tax and would earn an extra £6000 a year for working weekends, what would anybody do? It's £30 a day after tax. I believe 'no brainer' is the appropriate term!

The proposal is to use section 1 of the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 to
remove the need for a person to obtain a firearms certificate for the purpose of having Authority to possess a sound moderator.
So you are correct that no new legislation is required and I am correct the the proposal to remove the requirement is in progress
