Moderator failure

£700 would be about right for a Lawrence Precision I suspect? Very happy with mine for about 10 years and god knows how many .308 so this is surprising.
To be honest I have one for years and have had many rounds through it with no issue whatsoever.
I cannot comment further.

Would I be right in thinking that a titanium mod will also have steel bits in it, like the threaded part and maybe the baffles?
If so then any join would likely be a weak point.
It’s why I like ASE mods - bomb proof!!

Can you comment on how LP deal with clients who have paid a premium and aren’t happy with the ‘premium product’ they’ve been saddled with?

Hopefully better than Krieghoff, a world class product and customer service provider that, eh, are not

I think if you read my comment again, and compare it to other comments I have made on this forum, you’ll read my ‘no comment’ in a different light.
I have no affiliation with the company mentioned, other than I own one of his products. The only one I’ll ever own.

Apologies - on re- reading my comment I can see you think this was directed as a dig at you which was not my intention. I fully respect your view and your right to highlight your experience with a Lawrence precision product which seems to have been good.

My experience with Lawrence precision was at the other end of the spectrum - a woefully inadequate product, incredibly poor customer service when contacted and a tendency to be……economical with the truth.

That is in complete contrast to every other individual or company in the shooting community I’ve dealt with.

Could we agree it is reasonable to judge a manufacturer not just on what happens when their product works, but on their customer service and integrity when it goes wrong?

Pulling the trigger on a custom rifle and expecting it to go bang is beyond what could be expected from this maker, undoubtedly it will be the customers fault. I'm sure his rifle was held incorrectly which is why the moderator failed.

I am aware that my experience is a rare one.

And we can agree. Totally.

Apologies again for any offence to you caused by my post - not my intention.
No offence taken. Just in the interests of ‘openness’ I thought it fair to highlight a positive.

But let me clear - regardless of that experience, I won’t deal with him again.

was pressurised ( no pun intended) into accepting a repair as any other course of action would have strained the relationship with my RFD.
Once moderator is back I will send it off to proof as I would not want to try it on my rifle again with out this.
Interestingly the cheap hardy gen IV I bought to check it was the moderator at fault performed flawlessly when tested despite having a much narrower diameter bore.

Why send it to be proofed, ? Hardy and dpt are sold along with numerous other without ever seeing a proof house.

Because if it blows up again it will happen at the proofing house and he doesn’t have much or an argument that they got it wrong then ( will also be a 30% greater charge for calibre so it survives I might consider putting it on my rifle)

I have been sold a couple of rifles which were f*cked passed proof (both out of headspace, Birmingham).

Suspect they have a good pension scheme... :old:
