Indispensible bit of kit!
Kills flip, kills recoil. kills sound, kills flinch, kills a lot more deer. Don't have foresters/ gamekeepers /farmers counting the shots/deer you have/havenot shot in the parish.
Allows reloading/load development in areas/localities that might cause questions/comment with unmoderated rifle.

I agree that moderators are great at reduceing noise BUT i dont think it makes any diference to the deer i have shot.
I have a T8 on my .22.250 but nothing on my .308 dur to the rifle already weighs 14 lbs so i don't want more weight. Only the other week i shot 2 fallow within 15 min on the same ride from the same seat and saw at least four other deer cross the ride . So the report of the first shot did not have much effect on the deer.
Also i shoot in the same wood as two friends who both have modded rifles and i hear there shots too but obviously not as loud.
So the point i am trying to make is that modderators are a good tool but not invaluable !

I await the wrath !!!!!

Cant argue with what you say, all the things about flash, recoilo, noise etc are true, but in the end its down to how comfortable you are with your kit.

Each to thier own really

Hi, I'm looking at getting a ASE S5 moderator. Can anyone tell me about their performance?

Hi there,

I have been using an ACE S5 on my 243 which is a t3 lite/stainless for about six months now and I have to say that I am most impressed. A few of my stalking buddies have now also gone down the S5 route. I have my 7mm Rem Mag threaded for the S5 as well and I am even more impressed with its performance on this rifle, especially the reduction in felt recoil, I suspect that this is due to my S5 being for the .30 Calibres. As an indication of its effect In the last two weeks I have shot six beasts and on each occasion there was minimum disturbance to other beasts feeding nearby and indeed on one occasion a doe continued to feed whilst only a few yards away and eventually almost grazed over the carcass of the fallen buck. My only concern to date has been the lack of ability to strip the thing for cleaning but I suspect that due to its stainless construction this may not be too much of a problem.

Regards Remmy7

Before you Commit to ASE S5 have a look at the A-Tex, the thing that impressed me was the weight or lack of it compared to the ASE, PES Scout and the T8 which I have a present. Sound reduction was compatible with the T8. They are strippable so you can clean them after use.

BOOOM!!! click-click....

' Nice shot sir.. let's move forward..'

' Pardon?'

'Nice shot sir ..let's move forward..'

' Oh sorry!..right yes..ears still ringing you know..damned awful noise'

'Yes sir..have you thought of a moderator on your rifle..spoils the looks somewhat but reduces muzzleblast, and helps your follow through due to reduced flip..'

'perhaps you're right...but what about the extra weight?'

'better a bit heavy on the shoulder than hard on the hearing sir..'

' Good point!..I'll look into it.

.............. ;)

Wildcat Predator8 beats the Atec on, design, performance and price plus its manufactured here in the uk by a BRITISH COMPANY
What more could you want?

Moderators

If you are looking for moderators, the two leading makes, in terms of quality are the new Stealth moderators (prev the A10, but now totally redesigned) and the A-Tec moderator. No real difference in performance, but a difference in terms of balance, the Stealth although marginally heavier only extends the barrel length by 4" compared to 6" for the A-tec.
Stealth moderators - British, A-tec - Norwegian.
