Moderators for big game?

Is it common practice to moderate a rifle for big game in Africa or US/Canada?

Iv never seen a single moderator being used in Canada. To be honest i dont know anyone over their that had one... hope that helps.

Probably an offence in Canada. Africa shouldnt be a problem, but I use a 375 in Africa and I have no intention of moderating it.

Yes, if you are hunting something big and grumpy, muzzle blast may be your friend!!!!

I would say no but my 375 H+H has a jet z moderator on it and it shoots lovely !!! But in Africa it would probly look out of place

I have seen a few African hunting reports in Norwegian hunting mags and it seems that a lot of them use rifles with moderators. Alaska/ BC reports, haven't seen anything.

Moderators are illegal in Zimbabwe.

I've been considering a big game calibre for myself. Of course it would be nice to have something I could use in UK too. So i'm just intrigued as to what people have.

I have the 375 for Deer and Boar if your thinking of buying a large calibre id try one or two out first, the large rifles are not for everyone they do kick a bit and when zeroing you soon start to know about it !

Its a Remington xcr stainless 375 H+H Magnum with stainless jet z Mod i changed the the stock to a HS Precision very light rifle drops Red stags on the spot ! If funds allow i may get abroad with it and try it on something a little bigger
