Monocular over Binoculars

Decided to go with one of these - Opticron Explorer WA ED-R 8x42. Opticron wrote back to say, the best in low light would be the 8x42 models with the Explorer although being made in China, optically superior to the BGA, mainly because the BGA is an old model and optical system, the new Explorer utilises ED glass which the BGA does not and has a wider FOV than the BGA. Build wise they are both very similar and both have a aluminium alloy body construction.

So let’s see how we get on.

I presently have the BGA 10 x 42 ..... so obviously Opticron are trying to tempt me to buy the new and improved version, typical! Hope you get on ok with the Explorer.:tiphat:

I’d be very interested in your views on that. I’ve an issue with the nerve for my left eye, it doesn’t transmit all the data to my brain (or something like that, it was a few years ago when I was told. Iv had all the tests and the eye itself shows no abnormalities, but refuses to focus (what I can see is just enough to walk along the road in safety, can’t read or identify most small objects. It’s been like this all my life). I refuse to buy decent binoculars due to the wasted still paid for half.
