I primarily hunt elk and deer here in Montana. I just purchased a Sauer 202 lightweight in .30-06, but want to find a 6.5x55 barrel. Once I find one, I may even have it re-chambered to 6.5-.284. I do know I would have to slightly increase the diameter of the magazine to accept the slightly fatter 6.5-.284 case. If anyone has ever done that, let me know how it turned out. I look forward to participating in this forum.

If you look at this thread it’s a discussion about obtaining another barrel. U.K. gunsmiths are mentioned who can supply new barrel stubs for custom barrels. Might be of interest to you.

Sauer 202 Barrel Change

I have a Sauer 202 Outback with a fluted 6.5x55 barrel. I do not have the choice of a barrel change to 7.08 in this model. However, the 101 model does have the 7.08 barrel and uses what looks like the same system. Both a medium standard class barrels. Question is, will it fit my outback ?
