More stock made , these strops make great for both stalkers and chefs
They are a heavy composite board which has layer of quality leather bonded firmly to the surface. These boards will not shrink or warp and the leather will stay flat when honing as opposed to compressing.
The boards also have non-slip feet. Supplied with a sachet of honing powder (enough for ages) as only a small 'pinch' is required. This should be mixed with a few drops of water to a watery thin slurry, apply this to the board with a paint brush, applying three coats ensuring they dry between each coat. You are then good to go!
The compound will also polish the edge. Please note the strop will darken with use and strips might appear in the surface initially, it is just the leather soaking compound and steel particles at different rates.
Size 33 x 6.5 x 13 cm
TIP Once sharp your knife edge will last longer between sharpening if stropped after use. Stropping will maintain the straightness of the edge at a microscopic level and remove microscopic burrs.
TIP When stropping, especially with the hanging strop, try not to 'roll' the blade off the strop, try to come off it flatter. You are stropping a knife as opposed to a straight/cut throat razor.
TIP when honing, if the false edge/ burr doesn't 'break' just increase your honing angle. No need for excessive pressure when honing.

Hi the strops are smooth as the info below with the sizes.
I have done a lot testing of these strops and had only positive feedback. I don’t use rough leather for board strop as pointless. Reason being if you have an already very edge then the next step should be a smooth strop, preferably with a chromium or diamond honing substrate.
I have sold plenty of these strops to both carvers and joiners and use the same strop for my hand plane and chisels. What applies to knives applies to chisels , well any edge really in that time on a strop after each use of the blade will pay dividends as the edge will stay sharper far longer.
