Morton rifle range.

Just back from Morton... good friendly members and a good set-up. Very very cold in the range and it caused fogging on the optics and cold fingers but overall the outcome was what i was after. Very loud and the underfloor heating was off until tonight.
9/10.

They really need to do something about the heating/damp.

After 2-3 shots, when the barrel starts to heat up, it gets extremely hard to see the target clearly. Gets obscuref by a heat haze of some sort.

The range has underfloor heating that is only switched on at the weekends. My scope fogged up but after i was happy with the groups.

And both times I've been, there were problems with the motors running the targets - would trundle down to the end, hit the wall, and start coming all the way back.

Had to resort to waving a bit of wood up in front of the camera to make it stop...

I went out on Saturday 9th May to have a go on the range. It's the first time I've shot centrefire indoors in Scotland. I also did a box test on my scope. Very pleased with the results all round. I suspect come the winter time I will be venturing back to test more loads.

Thanks

Went today again
its ok but time flies and with swinging targets, setting up, barrel cooling and the ever present clock...
i always feel rushed and come away feeling I could have achieved more or haven't managed to finish

not cheap and when the place is empty the feeling of being watched right up until the buzzer doesn't give me a cosy feeling!

be nice to arrive with the target blanked off so I don't have to do it

Have they got the motors working consistently?

I reckon it's fine as somewhere to go if you've got a couple rifles that are more or less on and you just need to confirm zero before a trip.

But if you've got a problem to chase down, or want to fiddle around with things, it's no good.

Anyone been here recently? I it has turned itself into a 'club'. So what does that mean, can only shoot limited days or wot?
