Mossberg Bolt Action

Digging through some cupboards and bags since my wife passed I have found allsorts of things, sterling bank notes used as book marks and several photos of my courting days.
Among them was one of my many shooting forays and here I am holding a Mossberg bolt action 12 bore with a vari choke.
It had a four shot box magazine and was a clunky noise to reload.
I had this about 1959 so doubt if there is any more about these days, I can't remember what happened to it as was the case of many guns that passed through my hands in my youth.

Buddy bought one in ‘69, we all laughed at it.
Someone later told him it had been in the gunshop rack for years before a willing idiot came along and bought it! Sure this was a 16 gauge.
Ken.

It was fun with slugs, or I should say ball as that was what was easily acquired from home guard issues 12 bore ball cartridges of which there was quite a few about.
I had to remember to unwind the choke tho, it was a strange system, just a collar sort of thing that either opened or closed the end of the barrel depending which way you wound it.

They're still common out here , along with the Marlins , Savages , H&Rs , and Kesslers . I saw one intrepid soul out after White-Tails last year with a scoped Geha ( Modified Mauser 98 ) in a shotgun only zone . Apparently it worked , he dropped a very nice buck with it at about 70 yards . They're not the fastest repeaters out there , they're more like a single shot with a handy place to store your ammo , but they do still kill things .

I remember them too. And the Marlin version.
Made good slug guns ... allegedly.
It's not unusual to see the odd Marlin Super Goose 10 gauge in southern portions of the province in the Fall . They're a bit of a cult down there . I think it's the lack of trees , it makes you go a bit funny .

Hi.
I remember the bolt action mossberg well, i had one back in the 80s when i inherited one. Those were the days. Shotgun ticket was just a piece of card with no information about guns, and no magazine restrictions.

I still have a pump action with the select choke on the end.

Yep. Magazine restrictions which moved many guns to a FAC was a measure introduced by those "friends of shooting" Thatcher's Tory Government in 1988.
Yes, i remember it well. I had both my mossberg and Berreta modified so as to keep them section 2. I found the proof house certificates a couple of months ago.

I wonder how many got buried in a plastic bag. Police had no idea who had what.
