Hi All,
In this changing market place, and never ending supply of new products, any views on the best value decent quality mods out there.?
Small, light, compact & efficient are main criteria..

Thanks for any input..

On my 6.5x55, I've got a Schultz and Larsen TMD35. Very light (256 grams), Small - 163x35mm and was about £200 I think. Does perfectly well as a stalking moderator but obviously being so small and lightweight, it's not going to stand up to long shot strings etc (I expect...). However, fits the small, light, compact and efficient criteria.

Freyr & Devik Featherweight 149. Ed from Edinburgh Rifles posted a very detailed test of a number of moderators on here worth a look for it. He also sells the F&D range and posted recently on a clearance sale of some moderators he has in stock.

Would recommend a forward of barrel moderator and not overbarrel (reflex)

ASE UTRA SL5i, all steel and very short but quite dense. My choice.

Schultz & Larsen moderators (specifically the Micro/TMD 35) are worth checking out at the price, don't own one but had a look at one. They come in 6mm,7mm and 8mm.

Freyr & Devik seem to have a strong following too.

Have a look at the Edinburgh Rifles tests and reviews - the most comprehensive I have seen.

I'd watch out for very light or aluminum moderators as they probably won't last as long. I also don't like modular designs as there is always a risk that you reassemble them incorrectly and zero changes.

Thanks for that. I spoke to Ed at Edinburgh Rifles and he was very helpful indeed. I think I’m sorted with what need as a result.
