Mounted Torch / Lamp for Night Hunting

Looking for recommendations for the above.

Have a section to remove some problematic deer. Have watched them for some weeks via trail cams and they are mostly nocturnal.

The use of thermal scopes is not an option.

I will be using a handheld thermal so looking for a torch/lamp that can be mounted onto the scope with the rats tail switch as I will be alone.

Distances will vary from 50 yards to 200yds

I guess my plan is to locate with thermal, have rifle mounted on sticks and when ready to hit remote switch and job done...sounds simple right ha, we will see !

I have read previous threads and there seems to mixed opinions on the Nitecore, lightforce etc. I guess weight and size doesn't matter too much as this will be a sit and wait job, mostly.

I am from the school of buy once cry once but that being said I don't normally shoot at night so not sure how much use it will get once these deer have been sorted. I struggle with patience so having a cheaper product that causes me hassle or is awkward to use just wont work either, you get the idea.

Looking for and very much open to suggestions and opinions of what will work best for my situation. Having 4 different filters etc is probably not needed etc

Cheers

Like lamp shy foxes they will learn fast, if that is you only option then use an adjustable mount and have the lamp set high so you bring the "spill"
of the torch down as you bring the rifle down. It will work but not many times. good luck

Yes I've thought about that. Unfortunately thermal scopes are not allowed.

I was planning on using a red filter as much as I can to limit this, so should have mentioned I will require at least a red filter option.

Suggestions on how better to approach it are more than welcome.

Thanks

Conditions are as follows:

Use of lamp is permitted

Use of mechanically
propelled vehicle
is not permitted

Use of hand held thermal
imager / night vision
scope for searching (not
firearms mounted)
is permitted

Use of gun mounted night
vision scope
is not permitted

If you can find one, I have a Tracer Ledray F900. Adjustable spot and power, also has rat tail.
Interchange LED white, ir, red and green. The ir was about £50.00 more.
It will easily illuminate 200m plus with red led and hundreds further with the green or 800m with the white. (Can't vouch for the white at 800m, it is claimed in the spec.
I use it with the red regularly.
I've had it 10yrs or so and paid around £200, I think. Plus the £50.00 for the ir.

This is it, I use it with a low, or high picatinny rail, low at the momentvas it was last used under 12g Remington Semi auto.

Not correct, NV and Thermal are allowed.

If you are limited to torches I’ve found the night masters to be good and shot a lot of deer with a green one and a white one (before I lost it).

Out of interst. Where are you that thermal / NV scopes aren’t allowed?

Ireland.

They are considered and licensed as restricted firearms.

It is possible to get them and they can be permitted under a section 42 but in this instance they have limited it to the conditions I posted above.

NV & Thermal freely available, but you cannot shoot Deer at night, it's illegal.
it is illegal to shoot deer at night unless you are granted a section 42 from NPWS to deal with problem Deer which are causing serious damage, then it is not.

Anything constructive to add regarding my original post ?
