Who shoots MRAD and who shoots MOA?

Thought it would interesting to see pros and cons for both and also serve to aid anyone who is looking to purchase their first scope with a ballistic turret or reticle that requires you to make a choice between the two before you buy.

I personally shoot MRAD as find the maths much easier. Plus nearly all my shooting buddies use MRAD so spotting and making correction calls are much easier.

Provided the turrets match the reticle, either is ok. Whilst .250 MOA clicks are finer than .1 Mrad, I’m not that good of a shot to benefit, so would lean slightly to Mrad as it’s easier to work the numbers.

I like FFP as you don’t need to remember your magnification setting for ranging or hold offs as with SFP. Just need to consider reticle coverage at high magnification.

CCW turrets are my preference as it’s easy to remember what the adjustments are doing by imagining the turret is a screw where the point of impact follows the tip of the screw so unscrewing (counter clockwise) moves the elevation up and screwing (clockwise) moves the elevation down.

May I ask why? Just purely interested as to your opinion

F class is shot at set (known distances) the targets are also MOA sized so it makes sense to use a MOA scope

During my time on the GB Team, all (team) events shot had a wind coach who called for adjustments in MOA so it makes sense to use moa scope

I prefer using milrad / metric for everything else though am of an age where cross referencing between the two makes no odds to me

Quite happy using both, at present though all my c/f rifles have metric correction turrets on them with either 0.1 MRAD or 0.05 MRAD increments, either Zeiss or Swarovski. The Finnfire Range though has an MOA scope fitted with 1/8 clicks & it’s ccw so opposite to the c/f ones just to make things difficult!

That's really interesting and not knowing much on F-Class ive learned a few things now. Thanks for that 👍🏻

All my scopes are sfp and moa.
Its what I always used and couldn't be bothered changing at this stage.
It would cost me a fortune to change now anyway as I have 5 scopes.
