Multi Vehicle Insurance

Looking to when it's insurance renewal time.
I've a two year old hilux and due to doing a lump of milage every year I recently purchased a Skoda Yeti to put the milage on.
So my truck insurance company only do commercial vehicles so wouldn't touch me for the Yeti and likewise the company I ended up with for the Yeti wouldn't touch a commercial.
So I'm looking for recommendations from people in a similar position who have managed to use one company on a multi vehicle policy please.
Cheers
Jimmy

I was with Admiral with my Mazda pickup on a commercial policy and when I bought a new car they swapped it over to a private policy. They do offer multi car policies too, however the renewal cost was a lot more than I could find shopping around so didn't stick with them.

It’s car insurance. Ask the same question in 6 months time and you’ll likely see the cheapest costs a packet and vice versa. Just get a pile of quotes and go with the most affordable. Then check next year again.

I wouldn’t get hung up about a multi vehicle policy. With single policies, you’ll gain two no claim discounts, but maybe only one with a multi.

Got four cars on a multi policy with four drivers and we all build up our own NCB. It is 'supposed' to offer a discount but I'm yet to be convinced.
Recently renewed and the price went up 30+% but by making a few changes and haggling managed to get it down a bit. Not happy, but probably better than some folks increases that I've heard of...

Go to California they do not have compulsory car insurance, or did not in 2014 unbelievable most ex mexes had none.
I visited my brother in NZ in 2012 and insurance wasn't compulsory either. A huge difference to the UK was that fully comp was a similar price all things being equal but 3rd party only was less than £60!

Keep the price low to encourage people to take it out, or like the UK make it mandatory and then charge more than fully comprehensive and take people for a ride!

I struggled to have my van and car on the same policy, both for domestic use but as one is classed as a commercial vehicle I couldnt find someone to do the two on one policy.

Only in the UK could the insurance industry still not have got their head round the idea that a pick up could be privately owned and not used for business. 'van insurance' but you only want to commute, are you sure sir?

Admiral were not too bad with me in that respect.

Until recently my multi policy covered a Toyota Hilux (which they insured as a car) and a Ford Ranger (which they insured as a van), no idea why they differentiated as they did and even they could not explain it to me properly (falling back on "that is what my computer says").

Now it is the Ranger (still a van apparently) and a Rav4 (definitely a car)...

I gave up in the end and insured separately.
