Muntjac head worth measuring?

Last night’s effort.
Rough tape on this 13.5 left 12.5 right. Might need to get a professional to have a look.

Be very careful with it if you are going to clean it yourself. The skin just under the antlers look as if it was not far away from dropping its antlers.
Very nice buck well done.
I shot a muntjac a while ago and after boiling if you look carefully at the bone under the pedicle it's very porous where it's going to break.

Yes I have one and the CIC measurer who measured the head pointed it out to me that it would have only had a few more days before it dropped it's left antler. As it has got older and dryer you can see like a perforated line a lot clearly now. The CIC assessor who I use is very knowledgeable on this subject and is happy to share the facts with you the last muntjac head I took to him he showed me what to look for.
I always find a lot of bigger muntjac start to show up in April when they could be getting ready to drop their antlers so you after be careful with them.

Don’t think that Henns is correct. Muntjac can be measured wet, dry, skin on , skin off, mounted , skull cut or whatever. It is only about antler measurements.

The mounted thing causes issues though as there is nothing to say the skull wasn’t broken/split centrally and therefor affecting the potential span measurement, that was what I was always told (by CIC folk) this might have changed but I can see why they would take that view.
