There has been talks in previous years about the Muntjac being in Northern Ireland - main areas seem to be the ards peninsula and places in co Armagh (Peatland Park) has anyone saw any in recent years - i live in armagh but ive never saw any around any of my permissions (loughhall/richhill area) which are not madly far from peatland park. im just wondering if anyone has shot any? are we even allowed too if we are presented with the opportunity?

Would be nice to get the chance to bag one or two if we were allowed too

Not sure about exact locations but they are definitely still out there.

Can you shoot them? Yes.

According to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency information booklet 'Wildlife Law and You':

"Deer and hares are protected during the “closed season”, however they may be hunted during part of the year. Hares are classified as game and therefore they may not be hunted on Sundays or at night. Deer (apart from Munjac and Chinese Water Deer) may only be shot using large-bore rifles and hares may only be hunted using firearms or dogs, although competitive coursing of hares is now illegal in Northern Ireland." It also states Muntjac can be taken all year round regardless of sex.

I would love to have the opportunity of one myself!
