I myself shoot them all the time. Any image you find of one, you will found them correctly facing outwards. If they were the other way around, they would be of a hinderance to the animal, as they would turn inwards.. causing obvious difficulties. If you look at any Muntjac buck's mouth, you see it. If you open their mouth you see they curve outwards. As they sit in fairly "sloppy-like" stuck to a piece of gum and not quite solidly embedded like a regular tooth (that you can move back and forth with your fingers), the amount of curve/angle can vary due to the amount of curve in the tooth, length, how it sits in the gum. All down to genetics and diet of course however the majority do have an obvious outward curve. Some may appear a little straighter than others but they don't sit with an inward curve, it would be a biologic error and to the animals detriment. If the ones with the larger outward curves were put back in the other way around (facing very inward, as they cannot sit straight) , it would cause mouth issues..imagine the mouth opening and closing.
I shall leave you to it anywho. It is okay to be incorrect on some occasions, as that is how we all learn. Every day is a learning day and not one to be offended, life is too short. Never say never, perhaps the occasional rarity will be sat inward due to an issue.
