What price per Kg are you being asked for ? Just been asked what I think is expensive for a shot Deer in the skin

I have never paid more than £20 for a muntjac carcass.
I have even been given them before now.

Course this is on a paid stalk.

my game dealer pays £2.50 kilo head/neck shot and £2 kilo body shot. the average price is £25 a carcass in fur.they can sell every one i get and always ask for more.they take fallow and roe but prefer muntjac. out the door price, butchered packed etc £7.50 a kilo.

You are buying a muntie that has been shot and gralloched, you have not had to do anything yet, its up to you if you dont think it is worth it decline gracefully, they guy might have paid to go stalk it ( posibily £80 a stalk), so he sets his price,,, i doubt if he is making a profit, probably just trying to get some of his money back
but it is up to you, considering some cuts of venison are going for up to £40 a kilo, but that is butchered, you do see where I am coming from, if you think it is to expensive just decline the offer
not in muntie teritory so never had the chance of one, roe fallow and red are my target species, and most of it goes to family and gratefull friends,,,,, and my doctors love venison so I will never have to pay for a doctors reference for my FAC :-D
Cheers

Are you meaning the asking price for a deer you've stalked & shot or buying one from someone else who shot it?

Most I've paid is £10 for my own stalked deer, Asked £2 kg for shot by another stalker carcase .

Banus,
quite often end up with spare's and could do with a dealer to offer them to.
Would you mind letting me have details of yours if you don't mind, if to far might not be worth the fuel.
PM me if you wish
THANKS

Best tasting meat out there, put it in your own freezer, my local GD doesn’t take them as they are a wee job to de coat, the carcasse is certainly worth the effort.

i find a home for anyone’s I can’t process - never waste a thing

That seems like good money, I get about half that, but have a long standing arrangement with a very local GD - so it is more convenience than anything else.
Like Gimlet I would be interested to know who you use and how far they are from me as it may be worth a trip if I have more than one or two.
Could you please PM me their details? - thanks.

Never sell them, we can get through ten a year as well as Fallow and Roe. My daughter in law nicks them from our freezer and she will get through five or six a year reckoning it to be the best venison. That's from a girl ( yes that is her gender whether the PC on here like it or not) who wouldn't eat Bambi ten years ago.

:-D
