My first Chinese Buck

I managed to get my first Chinese buck at the weekend and a friend of mine who’s starting out with trophy preparation, prepared it for me! All in all I am very pleased (albeit the wife isn’t keen!)

I’m thinking that I should probably get it scored as well? Is there anything I should be aware of? Do you just find someone off the CIC website and get in touch?

From field to freezer / display cabinet in 3 days!!

Has the base of the teeth sealed over? If they are still open, I think it deducted points

They are completely sealed! I’ll get some detailed pics this eve.

Silver not big enough for gold, you need a very very big buck to make gold since CIC changed the goal posts

Tidy buck - do you have any full pictures of it having just been shot in the field? Always interested to see how low the tusk tip sits lower than the bottom jaw.

This one measured 85mm on the curve and wasn’t fully fused so scored no points, but was still a close gold under the new CIC system.

With your measurements above, I believe yours is a solid gold.

Do you have the details of the qualification criteria for the medal ranges? I’ve googled it to death, but found nothing factual!

Use a piece of non-stretch sticky tape - mark it either end, then measure the piece of tape between the marks.
