Surprised me too. LOLFake image, that fish never managed to get that hook in it!!!![]()
Was it caught on a "bolt rig"This beast led me a merry old dance before I managed to slip the net under it.
Oh the relief when I finally landed it, and as you can see, it rocked the British record !.

There are some big chub on that stretch of river, and, if truth be known, it was them I was targeting. That's a similar rig to what I use for Perch too.Cracking little fish! I’ve caught pike like that - right hard nuts and they’ll go for a pike like themselves and almost as big! What were you fishing for? I like the jig - what else have you caught with it?
Now that's something I'd like to try.Beats a blank!
I intended to get out today but had to give it a miss, will try next weekend for some on the fly.
Hard work, mate. Stick with the soft jellies/shads with a big single barbless on braid. Now that's something I'd like to try.![]()
Nicely done. I did buy a Snagged Bro jig fly to try out, but keep forgetting to take it out with me. LOL If you haven't seen them, check Snagged Bro out on Youtube. Anglings answer to Morecambe and Wise.Have you tried pike flies using a light spinning rod? The wire trace add enough weight to the fly for reasonable casts and a good river pike is a giggle on light tackle. This one was under my boat on the Avon…
Mine was hooked in the mouth though.I’ll raise your near record pike with my near record bass…
Pike on fly is the only way to do it!Beats a blank!
