NEC Shooting Show

For those complaining about cost you want to try being an exhibitor. A major stand who shall remain nameless estimated the three days cost then north of £40k with stand, hotels, food etc.

that’s about right cost wise. Some of the stands were huge with a lot of circulation space. Remember they will also be there for at least 1 day and probably 2 for set up and a day to pack down. Plus the need for secure transport of all those guns……

I expect the stands were huge as they never filled the venue so gave free extra space to some of the exhibitors to fill so that it did not look quite so empty. Not shooting related but have had first had experience of exactly that in another industry. Nothing looks worst to the paying public then a half empty show.

The one gun show I have on my wishlist is the 'SHOT Show' in the US. Maybe someday.

Unless you are trade then you probably never will. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. SHOT show isn’t for the general public, and they’re being very stringent on this in the coming years.

Went once, too many people of an ilk I'd usually avoid; utter nobs dressed like they're going to the Highlands in November, as unfit & panting as their fat labs. No ta.

Being from Ireland, we don't really have anything like the NEC show. I went on Saturday and couldn't get over the lads in full camo and stalking gear I'd say they must have been warm!


I don't see the point? Was it to say "look at me, I have guns"?

Aware of that which is why its on the wishlist. Might find a job working for one of the traders for a year to get in for the experience. Saved it for later years of my life.

I went this year, I’ve got to say I wasn’t entirely impressed. The lack of traders was noticeable, and I felt there was a real lack of breadth from across the shooting community. Unless I missed things there was nothing there for wild-fowlers, pigeon shooters, there were no high seats, no decoy stands. I know the real reason for this is the expense to traders is huge. I spoke to one trader and the cost for a pitch was £25,000. That’s a lot of sales to cover the outlay. I wouldn’t say never again, but I’ll certainly give it a miss for a couple of years.

Sounds like a perfect catch covid environment

Exactly the reason that I have not been since the Chinese said that Covid could be caught from people with no symptoms.

25k bloody hell, can’t be a better time for some grass roots shooting fairs to start up, at a guess they would get supported

you could get a top flight google website rating for a year with that money and earn mega money

Ah but you have to say that you enjoyed it Lloyd.
I came across your you tube video of the show last night, there seem to be quite a few people making videos of this year's show. Not too impressed by some but I enjoyed yours.

P.S. some very impressive equipment showcased in some of the videos, but the prices truly staggering. I'm afraid to say that shooting is evolving to become a sport for the well off.

I went last year and enjoyed it, couldn't make it this year but from what I've seen it was largely the same exhibitors there this year again, so wasn't too disappointed I didn't go.

@8x57 Thanks man, however I genuinely had a blast. For me it's the ability to catch up with people I might only see once a year, and make contacts for more content which is essential to make the channel work. I have never attended as a punter and had the chance to actually partake of the show.

I have seen some of the vids and some surprisingly low effort content has been made for sure, glad you enjoyed mine though
