Need to replace a lost knife: any experience of Puma?

I'm now in touch with a member of this forum who makes knives and is looking into making me a sort of hybrid of these two from CT knives. Ah-haaaaarrrr! Willie_Gunn my lad!

The thing is that it should be a lot cheaper. So I may be able at some point down the line to buy the Puma Waidmann too. Especially if it turns out that no-one likes it, they discontinue it, and it ends up in the bargain section. We shall see what he comes up with!

I shall run a campaign to re-christen you "Cut-throat PM", you scurvy sea-dog you! (Or should that be "scurvy chien du mer")

Emberleaf "Cael AR" knife - designed by me with Taffs advice purely for deer stalking.

You check a £300+ knife is there so you won't lose it!

It will also never rust or break, and will hold a razor edge for dozens of grallochs.

I've found a perfect foxing rifle to compliment that knife:

Cool calibre too.

Same reason we Don't all carry a Savage Edge with a cheap but adequate Bushnell 3-9x40.
Exactly! And a $300 super knife is a lot cheaper luxury than a $3,000 rifle.

I like the Savage Edge, the Marlin X7, and the Tikka T3 Lite.

But I liked my Mannlicher carbine in 6.5x54mm a lot more, for sheer pleasure while carrying it through the woods.

Every army issues a some sort of combat or utility knife. But a lot of soldiers want something personal. Here is the Randall No. 1 carried by General William Westmoreland in Vietnam.

Perhaps not a pure hunting knife, but this Aitor knife (another good Spanish knife brand in my experience) made for the Spanish Legionnaires has performed well for me over the years.

So just in case anyone was biting their fingernails to find out how this ends, I have decided on a compromise. I'm going to buy the Puma Waidmann for now, with the intention of one day buying a proper, beautiful custom made knife when I have the opportunity to actually meet the maker, handle the goods, spend the money that it takes to do it properly.

Special thanks to Tozzybum for his valiant attempts to try and provide another option, much appreciated.

Pirates don't compromise:
