New air pistol on licence??

Looking for a bit of advice on clearing my Dads attic i found an old Diana air gun or toy? 30's or 40's and a pneumatic air pistol. Im going to take them home (to the socialist republic of Scotland) as we are renting the property. Two questions should the Diana be on my air weapons cert or is it a toy and obviously the pistol should be but how does one go about updating weapons listed on your air weapons cert?? Any help be appreciated. These are similar items i found pictures of on internet.

You don't have to airweapons license is just that if you have the license it allows you to have airguns they are not listed so you can acquire as many as you wish.
The pneumatic is a different story.

License an air weapon​

If you use or own an air weapon, you need to license it.
It is an offence to own or use an air weapon without the proper certificate or permit. This includes buying an air weapon, someone buying it for you or simply having an air weapon in your possession.
Exemptions may apply (this means you don't need a licence) in certain situations, including if you're:

• a member of an air weapon club and only use a gun at the club or events linked to the club
• a member of a cadet corps and only use a gun for specific activities linked to the corps
• using a recreational shooting facility

It might or might not be, is it spring or pcp if gas operated it might need to be on an FAC
Depending on muzzle velocity if its just spring operated it should be fine on your air weapons certificate.

Ok you just pump it up ten or fifteen times from memory it’s a fairly useless thing but sentimental value

Just to be clear I do already have an airgun and the correct licence for it. I was wondering about additional air weapons

So long as they are not above 12ft/lb then nothing else needed seeing as you already have your air rifle licence.

The pneumatic is a Crossman single stroke - I had one (may still be in the loft somewhere), it’s a cheap mass produced thing that’s about as accurate as urinating in a gale & would be sub 6lbft to be legal down here.

This applies as well to those coming up to Scotland from Englandshire and wishing to bring an Air weapon with them. You will need a visitor’s Air Weapons permit for the Airweapon. There was a clause that allowed you to use your FAC or SC provided it was granted or renewed prior to 31 March 2016. Given that is now over five years ago this no longer applies.

I already have a scottish air weapons licence and the pistol is sub 6ftlb so should be fine

Just to add to this for completeness - in NI you need an FAC for airguns be they rifle or pistol regardless of power in exactly the same way as you need an FAC for rim or c/f rifles and pistols (and shotguns - there are no shotgun certs.). Furthermore air pistols are restricted to registered/approved club usage only in the same way as rim or c/f pistols. Strangely PSNI removed pellets from FAC restriction only recently but all airguns are still on certificate only.

Anyone bringing a firearm of any type be it pellet, bullet or shotgun cartridge firing must get the relevant paperwork in advance from PSNI.
