New Barrel Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor.

Hi,

Anyone have experience for expected barrel life on a 6.5 Creedmoor. Reading online quotes anywhere from 2500-4000 rounds then barrel knackered. Can that be correct? I don't shoot what I consider hot loads. Between 39-40.5 grain Vit N160 with 139 Scenar. Gun is always cleaned after using but I have what appears to be very bad pitting.( Just bought a borescope, wish I hadn't.😭).
I estimate that I can't have put more than 2000 rounds through it.

Pitting won't be down to a bullet traveling down the barrel. rust will cause putting, Gague performance from what it's doing on target. A mates rifle is missing 4 inches of rifling and it still shoots well.
I tiny pin hole will look like a crater when blown up on an iPad screen.

Any gunsmiths on here that could advise costs for replacing a Ruger barrel? Would probably consider a heavy stainless one.

This looks bad to me.

What is strange is that the worst bits are almost at the end of the barrel, would have thought that most wear/ damage happens nearer the throat, no?

That is pitting! Unless you see keyholes on paper ignore it and shoot. Now why the pitting? Rust comes to mind the real question is what predicated rust.

Never, as I said before, cleaned after every shoot and some oil to coat bore, cabinet inside house so never cold and bought rifle new when launced. Cannot say how shocked I was when I put the borescope down. Mt Remington is much older but treated the same and it is spotless. Could this just be cheap quality from Ruger? These rifles are considered good value but assume some compromises must be made.

Thanks NP435, as said don't know what I could have done wrong, if anything

If you hadn't looked down it you'd never have known, and you'd probably have carried on shooting with it quite happily for many more years.
