New brass, good to go?

After purchasing some brand new Norma brass cases, I wondered are they good to go out the box? No need to trim, size etc? Just prime, powder and bullets?

Anything that's been shipped thousands of miles in a loose fitting box or bag is worth spending a bit of time on checking it.

Any new brass is always at least neck sized to remove any dinks or dents or full length sized and checked for OAL.

No. I would run them through a full length die or if you have a case guage check them. Chamfer the case mouths. I always de burr the flash hole.
I had a new box of 100 Nosler 204 ruger brass. 10% were defective. Split and nicked necks and what looked like weld splatter inside the necks. It was the worse lot of brass I have ever purchased.

Thank you for the replies. It's as I thought and goes against what a mate (who reloads) told me. He said he just primes, powders and seats the bullet...... Hence I thought I'd ask a larger audience.
Many thanks 👍

What sort of dies are you using and is this your first time reloading for this calibre?
Measure your case make sure it’s not over coal and try seating a primer. I usually use lapua brass which are pretty good out of the box but I had to get some Norma brass for a .270 and had to do a lot of uniforming on the primer pockets to stop the primers sitting proud.
It depends how fussy you want to get but the cases will expand after the first firing so unless you’ve plenty of time on your hands trim them after the first firing unless they exceed coal before first firing in which case trim.

Good luck

Yes, my first time loading this calibre.

Using Lee Does, Lee press and Lee quick trim.

Lapua brass isn't available anymore for the 7mm-08 so I will be using Norma brass and RWS LR Primers.

Whilst I can be impatient, I'm very fussy about things, strive for the best I can do, so each case will be given a full going over to get uniformity throughout the whole batch of brass. 👍
