New brass prep?

Full length resize Ken :tiphat:
Thanks Bo;
I was thinking that as new brass needs to fit any chamber as its designation that perhaps it is already undersized and apart from prepping the necks what’s the point FL sizing?
Cheers, Ken.

I've only needed to do 200 new Winchester .22 Hornet and 100 .223 Lapua cases from new, but a few cases had dinks in them.
I think Muir replied to my question on here, and he said to full-length resize.
I'm sure you have forgotten more about reloading and rifles than I will ever learn. (I'm a bit apprehensive about this blended powder malarkey :-|)

What I am doing is: Running them thru Lee collet die load and fire. Trimming to equal length after first firing (if necessary). I only fully resize once fired cases from different rifle

When I started this thread I’d already chamfered the case mouths inside and out.
In the past I’ve then fl sized but today wondered whether to do so after inspecting 100 cases (PPU) and not finding any dings etc.
I did size 30 cases and one finger and thumb was all that was needed to push the cases fully into and out of the fl die.
I’m convinced the die did nothing and I won’t be sizing the rest of the 200 new PPU cases.
Thanks for replies, Ken.

Bo, It’s getting the Imperial Wax on and off that I don’t like. 😂
And, a lifetime of banging a shoe turning hammer whist working on the anvil makes my wrists panic when they have to work these days.
Ken.

It can depend on the make of brass, some I would do little more than load and fire and others I've had to enlarge the primer pockets and FL size the odd case to get dings out.

PPU is cheap to buy and I like it.
I’ve had more dented necks on new Lapua brass than any other make I’ve used.
Ken.

Deburr flash holes. Rarely necessary on Lapua brass.
Run through full length die chamfer inside and out. Prome and load.
D

If lapua, I check everything in the chamber, then chamfer the neck, inside mandrel, whilst at it give it a quick inspection inside, load up and fire.

For target use, obviously it's a fairly more robust process...
