New Dark Engine BLADE IR Illuminator

Thread revival. What's the realistic range of the covert blade when used with an Alpex 4k? Also has anyone figured out a suitable mounting system that clears the Alpex LRF box when mounted vertically? Trying to avoid side mounting the illuminator to keep the balance. Any assistance appreciated.

The standard will give you a decent image to 500 yards and ability to see the backdrop well beyond that.

The covert is the same power, but the NV is about half as sensitive to the wavelength, so 300 yards, plus a bit more into your backdrop would be about right.

It's best to mount the BLADE at 45 degrees on a short standard scope ring towards the rear of the scope so all the controls are to hand, and nestle it between the 'turrets' of the scope. It's so small and light, you won't notice it's on the rifle mounted like thatand it won't stick out past the turrets of the scope.

Cheers

I've done the same as Clive suggested with mine (45 degrees)

I'm using a PBIR-X which is heavier than the Blade and TBH it doesn't feel noticeably off balance, surprisingly.1000029821.webp

I've got the Alpex 4k as well as lots of other night visions, as for i/r illumination i've owned lots of i/r's, IMO unless your after laser shy quarry on permissions (back ground) where a 940nm will give you the performance you require, your better off with a variable powered 850 laser, theses give you clarity and best range -----and you can dim them down -------certain nights shot can be taken with the Alpex with no i/r.

Its ok talking about 300 yds with a 940nm laser with back ground and conditions are perfect, but when they are not you are going to be struggling, i don't know anyone that use's one ?

Dave I use a 940 on a small farm, my shot is only 80 yards to bait station. Got it off AliExpress bout £30 940nm very covert good out to 200 on a dry night. Then I use my DFK on the longer shots.

I’ve got two off of clive they both are fully adjustable and covert the smaller one works brilliantly out to 80 yds might be worth giving clive a private message as to what you need from it

My blade covert arrived today after ordering it Friday (thanks very much Clive)
Now need to test it every night this week. I will be using it on my c50.

Hi All,

A bit more footage showing what the BLADE is capable of.

The first section shows it completely beating dusk light levels at well past 1000 Yards. The first tree line is 1035 Yards and the one behind that is 1750 Yards.

Then showing it will do very high magnification and long range.

I'll try to get some closer footage this week.

Hi Clive can I ask if you have any made up for sale please colinhall255@gmail.com

Hi Colin,

Not at this very moment. We are clearing a large backlog of orders currently, but this should be completed by this coming Tuesday where we will then have stock again for immediate despatch.

Cheers
Hoping to get my order this week then. As it’s only been nearly 6 weeks from point of order
