New guy introduction.

36 years old, best friend is border terrier, Nola. Or Nip, whichever, she reacts to both but only responds to my ccommands. And she is one hell of a squirrel dog. She can damn near catch em at a run, but once she's on sent, theyre done. She'll trail and tree em and shw dont lose em. They may jump from one tree to another but once she's got em, shes got em. Plus she loves helping at the sortin pens working cattle. She can separate the calves from the mommas and run em thru the alley to the chute, then whwn we turn em loose she runs em back to pasture and waits for the next one. Pipe welder on pipelines, son of a pipeline welder, grandson of a pipeline welder turned inspector. I love working cattle, esp the spring gather and draggin and branding n medicating my calves. Love beinf in the saddle, be it workin cattle, riding trails, but my real love is roping. Ropin necks, cashin checks! Catchin racks, buildin stacks! Get em turned, faced, and stretched boys! Do a little rope n choke! Lol but as for my hunting background; been hunting one thing or another since got my dads first .410 lever action given to me at 10. Gave that to my son this year for his 10th birthday after having it restored and my buddy is a leathersmith and put a leather sleeve on the stock with 5 shell sleeves and son's name and the date of his 10th bday on one side and our cattle brand on the other. Old man gave me my first deer rifle at 13; Remington .270 with a Leupold scope. Nothing fancy but I put a ton of rounds thru it till I could take a deer or any other game humanely, one shot. We got some cherokee blood so my first deer my old man made me bite into and eat a piece of the
heart. Found out later he was just giving me **** but I been in love with hunting deer ever since. Next got myself a Winchester model 1894 30-30 lever action, since to me the lever action repeater rifle helped to win the west. Next was my Remington 738 30-06 with the trigger pull lightened at 2.5 lbs. Used on my first elk hunt with my grandad in Montana. He's hunted all over north America incl. Canada and he had house in Alaska, plus hunted in Russia. Then my buddy took me coyote hunting cuz they were killing our calves(I keep my cattle
on his property) and after using his 17hmr and the speed and accuracy of that rifle sold me so I got a Savage B17 17hmr and put a Hawke Vantage IR 4-12x40 scope on it and I'll never change from that scope for a 17. Recently I lucked out and it had turned out an old man I used to cowboy with had a rifle he wanted to sell so I checked it out, turned out it was his ranchin saddle gun, a Savage 99e .243 win. Lever action he bought back in early 70's and has been his go to ranch gun ever since. Needs to have some reblueing done, but the wood is in 7-8/10 shape, action is smooth and quick. He took great care of it. Wanted 300 so I offered to trade him my S&W SW40VE pistol, plus a 150 cash, then I cleaned and oiled the **** out of it and lemon oiled the wood stock and handle. Then at 100 yds with 85gr. Core-lokt ammo, took three to get zeroed with a marine buddy spotting for me. After zeroed I put 5 into about a 1.5-1.75" group, which ain't bad for a gun that's been around since the 60's and was out in saddle everyday for about 3 Decades. But he took care of it. I'm gonna use it to get this big 12 pt buck
on my feed ☘plot in about a week. He's at my food plot in front of my camera at about 4-6 each afternoon give or take a few minutes. My stand is aboht 70 yds from thr plot. There are a few does and a couple little 8 pointers roam thru I tracked and found bedding areas. I'll get them too I hope. Plus this plot of land has a herd of wild hogs
plus a shitpot full of turkey
running thru quite a bit so I'm gonna try to get some of them. Love wild pork. Also recently got a Remington model 700 .308, put a bipod on but havent got a scope yet. I'm having our local gunsmith make me a custom barrel with a muzzle break and change the receiver so I can especially have a half ass model like the military .308 long gun. I just love guns, love hunting, love the rush of the take down, I enjoy being able to dress and qtr it out and take the butcher to get everything off it, as it should be. Sorry bout the novel but that's it! I hope lol

Nobody can accuse you of not posting a proper introduction OkieRodBurner.
The only problem is that you never left any gaps in your introduction and I keep loosing my place when I had to pop out for a pee several times.

Welcome to the site mate. :tiphat:
