NEW ! improved kydex knife sheath system

I have been working with kydex a good while now , having had various designs of these practical sheaths over the years . It has many practical advantages over the fine leatherwork as good as leather is when your in a push to get beasts done in a hurry sometimes contamination of the inside of the sheath with blood, hair and meat gets forgotten and its obviously impossible to clean out the leather inner parts .
I think this, my latest version has a good few real advantages
1. This is the first with a welt , this functions as a far superior stop to the point of a knife finding a gap along the joint line of the two halves . Nobody wants a jab in the leg or worse and using extra effort makes for a danger of mishap ( been there done that and it taught me a valuable lesson )
2. Chicago screws now go through both sides of the joint and the welt also is picked up , leading to the slight extra clearance on the blade that makes things far smoother than a taped in gap and full home disassembly for full on internal cleaning
3. The welt contains the drainage gap now as it does on my leather design so no face inner or outer face unsightly holes
4. The entry to the sheath must create enough tension to grip the knife , preventing loss and this includes during a crawl in , this often lead to too high a tension and extra effort to draw or heavier still to replace , the new flared tunnel type mouth gives a more secure knife , better protection to the handle yet an easier drawing or re-sheathing
5. let's make no bones about costs , kydex even done to this specification is a lower price point than the high quality leather i offer and we all need to keep an eye on the pennies
The system shown here is horizontal carry , a right hand dominant user would have the handle forward on his left side . The Lefty would simply reverce that with the same sheath as its ambidextrous. Belt carry loop tension has some adjustment . The user will find this carry comfortable in the truck , argo or on a crawl in . At the petrol station etc , the knife will be out of sight under your average pullover / fleece jacket ( though you should really remove the knife ideally ) DSC_0576.JPGDSC_0574.JPG
