There is a fair population of red, roe and a few fallow around us. Nothing like the same populations as in parts of Scotland but enough to keep busy
Oh ok yah well as long as you can get out and put some meat on the table every so often then yah perfect.👌
I’m currently setting things up to do my DSC 2 so I can stalk on MOD property.
Should have done it years ago but things slip your mind and time passed but it’s getting done now.
I find it very difficult to find stalking over here people seem to hold on for deal life.
Back in African you rock up to a bar and meet a farmer most likely at the end of the night he would of invited you and your son daughter or family out for a weekend **** up and a few animals thrown in for nothing, now everything seems to be about money and not the enjoyment of staking and if you can get it costs an arm and leg to shoot such a small animal.
What happened to sustainable hunting and foraging lol I know this is a small country but it isn’t that small and I think there’s only something like 500k licenses for shotgun and FAC across the Uk surely people would like to meet people like I am doing now with all you gentleman on here and say hay come out where killing Bambi this weekend lol 😂😎🤓 comes join us. Even if you’re not pulling the trigger it’s about the experience and socialising with good people.
Little rant lol 🙈

How’s it Messy that’s great and glad you got to experience the wonders of that beautiful country, I grew up in Bulawayo. My older brother moved back last year new the falls placed called Mlibizi his running a fishing resort there, and as a few of his friends are still PH’s his already had a few opportunities to shoot some things for national parks as PAC (problem animal control) which so im itching to go back next year to help with a few of I can.
But if you ever want to go back out I can put you in touch.

So do any of you guys on here get together as a cohort and meet each other or is it just as and when guys get out stalking?
Yah I’d like to get out hopefully.
Hey Zim - sorry for the late reply! This is now my favourite thread on SD!!
Most of my time was spent north of Harare, up around Lion's Den and then down in Harare at Charles Prince airport, learning to fly beta up Cessna's from the 1960s that probably should have been decommissioned 10 years previously, but are probably still going now! I have a yearning to go back for sure!
Sounds like you are well set from here to get some amazing trips lined up.

As for meeting up here with SD folks. There are various events etc organised - check out here: , but for the most part its just folks I meet when I go out stalking (I joined a club to make it easier to get on permissions etc - its pretty punchy, but its a low effort way of getting stalking in), but always up to meet new folks and chew the cud over a beer!

Also, just to give you a nudge in the right direction for specific stalking opportunities, take a look in here: Deer Stalking Opportunities

Messy!

How’s it Messy,
That’s not a problem at all and appreciate it, it’s good to find like minded and people with different views.
That sounds like you had a fantastic life learning to fly in what was Salisbury and I’ve actually never been up north always stayed down south, it’s funny you mentioned flying, I’m currently in the Army and hopefully next year start my PPL just trying to find an instructor around Bournemouth Airport.
As for the stalking yah I don’t have land anymore as there where 9 People registered to shoot that weren’t the savory kind so I pulled out and as Iv had a one licence for a lot of years I just get invited to help cull or look after some farmers chickens or lambs during lambing.
I am also preparing to move back to Africa in the future.
Once my military and university is out the way.
But um regarding getting together with folks on here I’ll have a look at the events and hopefully get to meet a few of you guys.
If anyone goes to the shot show in feb/Mar 25 at the NEC I’m sure we could meet there.
Thanks for the advice and pointers.
Regards
Zim
