NEW SCOPE

I bought a new scope at the weekend, from a good friend of mine, it is a Vortex Viper HS 8-24x50 2FP MOA, what a fantastic piece of gear but I have never had a scope that is so eye relief and cheek position fussy, my old 8x56 S&B is so easy to use and quick to get a sight picture, are all high mag scopes that fussy

Some are worse than others but yes generally higher mag means you have to be more consistent with alignment.

I bought it because it had higher mag and a finer reticle to try my hand a some longer range target shooting, for which it will be fine but I can see it being a ball ache for stalking, Im now thinking about changing the mounts etc so I can swap between scopes for target and stalking, do those type of mounts actually keep zero

How is the eye box at 8/10/12x mag? Should be more forgiving so better for stalking.

Leupold QR picatinny mounts guarantee return to within 1 moa of zero, something they have lived up to in my experience. But I still don’t tend to switch about for stalking as there is always that niggling doubt.
