Just done my 7mm08 load development with the 120 pro hunters and as above, very accurate/consistentI hunt with the blued version but strapped with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9. Hands down my favorite deer rifle. Try 120 grain Pro Hunters in you Tikka. Amazingly accurate and lethal on deer.~Muir
In my very humble opinion you have the best all round UK deer stalking chambering available in a great rifle. Very special.
It'll be interesting to see how you get on with the 140gr Fusions. I stopped using them after a number of bullets fragmented inside animals - they were accurate enough, but gave quite a lot of carcase damage in some cases. I now use 140 gr Winchester or PPU soft points which seem to work quite well, especially the PPU given the price.
Yup - seemed strange to me as well, but it happened on a good 6 or 7 occasions. it was a bit annoying to have a perfect heart/lung shot beast marked down by the game dealer after he found bits of bullet jacket in the fillets and loins. It seemed that the bullet fragmented when it hit, with no prediction of where the bits would end up. Changing to soft points seems to have cured it. No complaints about the calibre, it works very effectively. That seems strange, them being a bonded bullet?
