Thermal clip on, perfect accoutrement for your Swarovski DS Gen 2... not much change from £8k for both I think!

I did read online that this is not suitable for use with the DS scopes - as the RF laser in the DS will totally fry this unit if they are used together! Perhaps someone who knows a little more about these things could confirm? @Edinburgh Rifles Thanks Ed!

Maybe a little redundant, but what if you don't press the range button with it clipped on?

Soon recovered if you’re a Contract Culler.

Nothing to get excited about here.
A 12 micron 320x256 sensor and 35mm lens is low res by todays standards although they have gone big on the display which will improve the image in add-on mode
Swarovski have a fully deserved reputation for their excellent glass - the only problem is that, other than the small ocular lens, there ain't no glass in a thermal :(
Zeiss have a thermal spotter (DTI35) which has pretty much bombed
Leica have a thermal spotter and thermal front add-on which aren't breaking any sales records
Now Swaro come to the party with a product that is no better than "middle of the market"
Some will buy simply because of the brand, but there are already better products on the market for a lot less money
The product is not on the market yet, but the marketing blurb does mention anything about warranty - i.e how long on the electronics

Cheers

Not if you're in Scotland, but OK in England and Wales if you have the correct licence
In Scotland, you can use a thermal to spot deer, but if you attach the thermal to a scope and shoot a deer with it attached, you're breaking the law.
So, a contract culler in Scotland can legally use the new Swaro to spot deer, but not to shoot deer.
Why spend the thick end of £4k for what is at best a mediocre spec thermal spotter when you can buy something better for half that price.

What makes matters worse it’s fixed focus and a shed load of money to boot !

I didn't notice it was fixed focus - they're really taking the p**s with this one.
It looks like the computer geeks and marketing men have taken over from the optics engineers that built Swarovskis' reputation.

Totally agree!! On paper this is very low spec and I can not see how it is going to give any kind of image quality at all! 🤷🏻‍♂️

HIK TH35C, HIK TQ50C, Pulsar Krypton FXG50 (although it's not great as a spotter)
I own both the TQ50C and the FXG50 and the image is better on the HIK up to around x8 scope magnification, but swapping from monocular mode to front add-on mode (and back) is easier with the Pulsar

Cheers

Bruce

Thanks, I will have a look at them. How do the Hiks compare to the likes of an XQ38 or Axion XM30s…both of which I’ve tried?

Has anyone had the chance to get hands on with one yet?.
I have been saving my penny's to get one and now reading the above comments on tech and resolution quality I'm not so sure!., what would you think to purchase instead, Leica Calnox ,Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 Pro?.

Does not seem to be an impediment to any other behaviour from what I hear. Still unlikely to get adopted as there are other more effective bits of kit in use.

I had ordered one but since canceled it so I can see the reviews/comparisons.

In all honesty, don’t, just don’t. The comments about them above come from people who use these things daily. I use thermal, not as much and. Even I know just by looking at the spec, just don’t bother.
Leave thermal to the companies who make thermal. If thermal addons is something you want then start looking at the items mentioned above by Bruce.

If you ignore that advice then expect to be disappointed and to be selling your item on here in 6 months for a quarter of the price you bought it for and even then, only if you find a fool who thinks buying the name is important.

I bought my Pulsar XQ38F in May 2016, it comes out to play at least 5 times a week and works just as well as when first bought it.
When it gives up the ghost, hopefully not too soon I shall buy another Pulsar. Why take a chance.

A review on the XP50 after 4 years use…
